Hey folks!
Today I hit the road nice and early and arrived at Camp Red Pine for Girls at about 9am.
Red Pine is a great camp and bumped into Litzza and Diana, two of our returning J-1 SWT exchange visitors. They of course were having a blast (well they wouldnt have returned otherwise would they? 🙂 )
Then it was on to Timberlane Camp for Boys to meet Mike Cohen, their owner and director. Mike is great and we walked around camp together and chatted with our staff there. Our recruiter from mexico, Yair works at Timberlane so he has a great feel for what is a great fit at camp. Staff happy, Matt happy, Camp happy, onto the next camp.
I then drove about 20 mins to Camp Kawaga. Ty is the new owner there and we had some great staff placed from Colombia and Brazil there, all having a great time. They had jsut built a new dining hall and Ty spoke to me about how he is trying to create memories and focus on building the character of his campers and staff. Great stuff!
Finally at the end of the day I drove to Camp Jorn YMCA for my first visit ever. What a lovely camp in Manitowish Waters.
I had a great tour and even ate at camp before heading to my hotel for the night.
Tomorrow I am visiting Camp North Star for Boys and Camp Birch Trail for Girls then into Minnesota for a visit to YMCA Camp Icaghowan.
