Today my colleague, Justina, and I had the pleasure of visiting one of our local camps, Easter Seals Camp Merry Heart!
Camp Merry Heart is located in Hackettstown, NJ- and is about a 10 minute drive from the IENA office! Merry Heart is an amazing place, serving campers with special needs. This beautiful camp offers great activities from swimming, boating, arts and crafts, a challenge course, and so much more!
Kim, Merry Heart’s Camp Director, was kind enough to give Justina and I a tour of camp, so we could see some of the activities they have to offer and our exchange visitors in action!
During our visit, we had the pleasure of meeting and talking to some of IENA’s exchange visitors from Columbia and Mexico, who are working at Merry Heart this summer- Rafael, Isaac, and Kevin. It was so great to talk to them and find out how their summer is going. They had only positive things to say about their experiences at camp so far, and said while there are of course some challenges, they are loving camp, and finding the work incredibly rewarding. They’ve also been taking advantage of their free time, and spent a weekend in NYC, and have a trip planned to the NJ Shore this weekend. It’s so great to hear when our exchange visitors are not only loving camp, but fully embracing American culture and getting out and site seeing!
Justina and I loved being able to drop by our local camp neighbor and meet some of our awesome IENA exchange visitors! We hope they’ll pop in to the IENA office soon to say hello, and that they have an amazing time for the remainder of the summer! 🙂
