To all our camp and hiring directors- you’ve conducted interviews and found some amazing staff for camp this summer. Amazing! But.. now what? Officially hiring someone with IENA, or “Placing” them with your camp is easy! Below are step by step instructions for camp directors to follow, when you are ready to make a job offer to an applicant:
- First off- tell your prospective applicant! Please either shoot them an email or give them a call with the good news! Give them the basic rundown of details for the summer- we’re sure you’ll make their day!
- “Place” the applicant with your camp on the IENA/ International Camp Staff site. When you interview someone, they should be “In Review” with your camp. All you need to do is update their status to “Placed” at your camp. To do this, you select the applicant’s profile online, and click “Hire.”
- Work dates and salary- this one is important! When you officially hire/ place someone with your camp, the website will prompt you to fill in their work dates and salary for the summer. IENA asks that you ONLY fill out this section when work dates have been 100% confirmed with camp and the participant. We pull information for each candidate’s DS2019 from this section of the application.
If the dates are incorrect or need to change after someone’s application has been processed, there is an additional fee to reprocess their documents with the correct dates. Please note- the dates in this section are official WORK start and end dates, not travel dates! Also, don’t forget the salary minimums for a first time applicant! First timers who are under 21 must earn a minimum of $1,600 for up to 9 weeks; a first timer who is 21+ must earn a minimum of $1,750.
You CAN hire someone without filling in their work dates and salary online. If you are unsure of dates, or think they may change, we ask that you leave this section blank initially.
- Send your new hire a contract. We ask that this contract specifically outlines work dates, salary, and position for the summer. This should also include any other relevant information (arrival date to camp, work start date, etc.) We ask that the participant signs this contract and uploads it to their application.
Once you’ve completed the above steps, that’s it! You’ve officially hired an amazing member to join your staff for 2018, and we can begin to process their paperwork!
If you are hiring a direct placement candidate, please follow the above steps. However, in addition you will be required to fill out and upload an interview report for your applicant.
If you have any questions at any stage of the hiring process, email your camp rep and they can help you complete your placement!
Happy Camping! 🙂
