The Senate on December 12 expressed its strong support for international exchange programs with its passage of Senate Resolution 357.
Cosponsored by a bipartisan group of 26 Senators, the resolution expresses the sense of the Senate that international cultural and educational programs further the United States’ national security and foreign policy priorities; enhance America’s economic competitiveness; and promote mutual understanding and cooperation among nations.
Sponsors are very grateful to Senator Merkley of Oregon and Senator Boozman of Arkansas for their bi-partisan leadership in moving this resolution forward and championing the cause of international exchange. All cultural exchange stakeholders send our heartfelt thanks to all of the many organizations and individuals who advocated for co-sponsorship and passage of this resolution.
